As most of you know, this spring we will be hosting Sandaime Soke Sensei and Higuchi Sensei over the May Long Weekend, May 17-19, 2025 in Vancouver, BC and the following weekend, May 24-25, 2025 in Canmore, Alberta. For the newcomers, SOKE means “head of the family” or in our case, “head of the karate style, Chito Ryu”. Like the British monarchy, the title is bestowed from Parent to Child to Grandchild, etc.. O-Sensei, Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose was the founder of Chito Ryu, when he passed away his son, Yasuhiro, became the Soke and now his son, Naoyuki, is the new Sandaime Soke Sensei. Sandaime = third generation; Nidaime = second generation. Also like the monarchy, a Soke is considered Karate Royalty. In any Martial Arts, few Westerners actually get to meet and train with their Soke especially those in a direct family line. Chito Ryu has many splinter groups but ours is a direct line to O-Sensei. We sincerely hope as many students take advantage of this great honour and opportunity.
Higuchi Sensei is a senior Kyoshi recently known for heading the weapons curriculum. More important is his influence on Chito Ryu in general. He currently has one of the largest and most successful Dojos in Japan and he also served as Uchi Deshi (Personal Disciple) to both O-Sensei and Nidaime Soke and is currently a senior advisor to Sandaime Soke. Those that have trained with him know his dynamic energy and passion for our style and lately for the weapons.
There will be two classes per day 10:00am-12:00pm and 1:30pm-3:30pm for a total of 6 classes in Vancouver and 4 classes in Canmore.
Please feel free to forward this registration package to your students.
Thank you for your support of this incredible opportunity!
